- Bee Stings
- The next time you get a bee sting, place a penny on the sting for 15 mintues
- Poison Ivy
- Spraying yourself and your prospecting equipment with Lysol antibacterial disinfectant prevents poison ivy.
- Conditioning Your Pan
- To remove the waxy and oily residue of a new gold pan, use Simple Green cleaner. Keep cleaning your pan until the water in it wets the bottom and sides and doesn't bead or puddle up.
- Detecting tip
- If you ever come across a railroad spike, especiallly one embedded upright in the ground, and you are nowhere near a railroad track - pay attention. Detect the immediate area very closely.. Why? Because railroad spikes were ready-made for the unintended use of staking horses and were often carried for this purpose. You just may have stumbled onto a camp site. Check the surrounding area closely for coins, relics, etc.
- Panning tip
- Adding a few drops of dish soap or Jet Dry for the dishwasher will settle the mud and sediment faster. It also makes the water wetter to keep flour gold from floating.
